Starting a business can be a very hard task but it is always fun as well, what determines that is how we starts and what we starts with.
Some people believes all you needs to start a business is your capital and this can be a very fatal thinking for your business’ growth.
Below is a list of 5 things that are more important than money when starting a business.
1. Passion
In all professions, passion is one of the most important ingredients for success, because it is what keeps you on top always.
Steve Jobs said, “the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work, and the only way to do great work, is to love what you do”
The passion in the job puts the pleasure in the work, it makes it easier and fun to do.
Without passion, your money will be a waste when you face your first few defeats in business.
When the why is strong, the how will be easy.
2. Financial Literacy
It baffles me how people think they can just start a business without any learning process. They prefers to go to the university and study English Language for four years, yet they think business is not worth learning.
More than anything else, ignorance kills.
Before you venture into any business, get business training, do the feasibility study, study your target market and competitors.
3. Business plan
In football, any team going to the pitch without a definite game plan will probably lose that match unless they are playing against a team without a game plan as well.
No matter how small your business is, it has to have a well defined business plan with which you’ll operate.
Your business plan must contain among others, the business description, the marketing strategy you’ll adopt, the target market description, competitors analysis, financial analysis.
Some people believes you only need a business plan when you wants to obtain a loan or wants someone to invest in your business, that is wrong.
Your business plan is the guide to achieve your goals, vision and mission.
4. Initiative
“The common man have common sense, adversity will develop it”
Thinking is one of the major things that entrepreneurs do, they think creatively.
What keeps you on top is the ability to prepare mentally over and over and over again. The body has limitations, the mind does not. We focus so much on what goes on from the neck down that we forget it all starts from the mind.
If you are not mentally ready, you are never really physically or financially prepared.
Creative thinking keeps you ahead of your competitors.
5. Persistence
To me personally, this is the single most important ingredient for success for every successful entrepreneur.
The rough times are going to come, but they have not come to stay, they have come to pass, son when they come, stand strong and don’t give up on your dream.
Being an entrepreneur, you’ll almost always be faced with difficulties, sometimes you’ll fail, but in all, never give up on your dream.
Conclusion
Sugarcoating it to you will not take the facts that being an entrepreneur is hard away, so I won’t.
But do you know the sweet part of it?
If you give it all the necessary ingredients, desire, faith, autosuggestion, persistence etc, you’ll make yourself a very delicious bowl of success meal.
Go out there and live your dream and never look back.
Remember, never ever ever give up.
I love you, and there’s nothing you can do about it.
